Don't miss Desert Green X, Southern Nevada’s most comprehensive green industry conference. Celebrating 10 years, Desert Green features two days of three concurrent seminar tracks, table top displays and a green industry mixer. This year’s conference will be October 5-6 at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, NV. There will be a special rate of only $49 for the conference. The resort includes a state-of-the-art movie complex, Sam's Town Bowling Lanes and Mystic Falls Park, Sheplers Western Wear and five specialty restaurants. The keynote speaker this year will be Frankie Sue Del Papa, former Nevada state attorney general and a passionate advocate for tree planting and highway beautification. Ms. Del Papa has been honored with the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA) Award of Commendation. The WCISA will be a co-sponsor of the conference this year. There will be two days of arboriculture sessions. The conference is also sponsored by the Southern Nevada Golf Course Superintendents Association, the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, the Nevada Landscape Association, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the Nevada Shade Tree Council, Southwest Trees & Turf and the Southern Nevada Arborists Group. The Desert Green Foundation is a non-profit that includes members from these groups on its board. The Foundation is dedicated to education for the green industry. In addition to the arboriculture tracks, there will be tracks on Pest Management (with pesticide CEUs), Landscape Architecture, Irrigation and Water Conservation, and Golf and Sports Turf Management. The conference also features table top displays offering the latest products and services. The Foundation is expanding its web site at www.desert-green.org to feature complete information. Desert Green is a non profit 501(c)3, public benefit organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the green industry. It is Desert Green's purpose to aid in the gathering, exchange and dissemination of facts and information related to the green industry as well as in the research and educational areas, working with other agencies and organizations to obtain these goals. The Desert Green Foundation is dedicated to providing education to the horticulture industry in Nevada. Its primary activity is a yearly conference for landscape contractors, municipalities, landscape architects, arborists, pesticide applicators and other green industry professionals. The Foundation has been staging these conferences since 2003. The conference is sponsored by the: Southern Nevada Golf Course Superintendents Association; Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects; University of Nevada Cooperative Extension; Nevada Landscape Association; Southern Nevada Water Authority; Nevada Shade Tree Council; Southwest Trees & Turf, the Southern Nevada Arborists Group and Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA).
